Volunteer Spotlight: Caroline Vaslin

Posted on 24 August 2022

This month we have asked Caroline Vaslin to contribute to our new Volunteer Spotlight series where we are asking volunteers to share their experience with us.

Thank you to our fabulous volunteers for contributing to the continued success of Castlefield Gallery.

Hi Caroline! Tell us a little about yourself. How long have you been volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?
I started volunteering with Castlefield Gallery in August 2018. Outside of the gallery, I am a public servant. I moved to the UK from France in 2017.

What made you want to volunteer here?
When I first moved to Manchester, I wanted to give some of my time to a charity. So when a friend told me about Castlefield Gallery where he was a volunteer; it sounded perfect as I’ve always been interested in the arts and they were doing a lot of work with local artists and other organisations in Manchester.

What’s your favourite thing about volunteering at Castlefield Gallery?
My favourite thing would be seeing the interactions with the public, seeing their reaction to the exhibition and being a place where people come to discover something new. Preview nights are also a favourite of mine, it’s always great seeing the gallery full of people having a good time and engaging with the exhibition.

What would you say to someone who’s thinking of volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?
Definitely give it a go ! You will get to be a part of a super friendly team of staff and fellow volunteers and you will have a really good experience.
