Volunteer Spotlight: Bradley Bolton

Posted on 26 September 2023

This month we have asked Bradley Bolton to contribute to our Volunteer Spotlight series where we are asking volunteers to share their experience with us.

Thank you to our fabulous volunteers for contributing to the continued success of Castlefield Gallery!

Hi Bradley! Tell us a little about yourself. How long have you been volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?
I am currently in a full-time employment as a Residential Asset Manager and I’ve been volunteering at Castlefield Gallery since June 2023. I studied a Masters in Arts Management Policy and Practice from the University of Manchester.

What made you want to volunteer here?

Having a great interest in Arts and Culture I wanted to give back to the sector, as Castlefield Gallery is a registered charity, volunteering here was a perfect way to do this whilst gaining experience for my own personal development.

What’s your favourite thing about volunteering at Castlefield Gallery?
Volunteering for the VIP Preview Events. I was a volunteer for the VIP Preview for the Hybrid Futures: The Poetics of Water exhibition and it was so much fun! The whole event was such a good atmosphere, it was great to be able to see the exhibition and everyone here to celebrate the opening. Also, staff, volunteers and attendees were all invited to a curry night after the event which leads me on to say the gallery has such a friendly and welcoming team which adds to the enjoyable experience of volunteering.

What would you say to someone who’s thinking of volunteering with Castlefield Gallery?
My main concern before volunteering was would it take up all my free time? However, it is the complete opposite. Shifts are provided to you in a timely manner which you have the option to accept/decline and then pick up any available shifts to work around your free time. You can also pick up extra shifts if available, it is really flexible. If you’re considering to volunteer with Castlefield Gallery, I’d say it’s a fantastic opportunity, not only will you have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community but you’ll get the chance to meet so many new and interesting people and work with a fantastic team!
