Performance Publishing by Maurice Carlin

Posted on 13 July 2013

Castlefield Gallery is very happy to have been able to support CG Associate Artist Maurice Carlin in his Performance Publishing exhibition at Regent Trading Estate though Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces.

Performance Publishing, Regent Trading Estate forms part of an ongoing work by Maurice Carlin exploring the ground between print, place and performance. Over the course of 3 months this Summer he will work in a vacant 8000 sq ft warehouse in Salford, taking 400 plus individual CMYK relief-prints from the floor surfaces of the building which will slowly accumulate to transform the interior. Viewable from an elevated platform in the space, a vivid, sprawling and scan-like document of both building and performance will emerge.

Open to the public whilst in development, the piece can be experienced locally within the space of the warehouse, and online via a specially tailored webstream, relaying live screen-sized images of the building in 1:1 scale to remote viewers. Through contrasting the vast physical space of the warehouse with the remote and expansive networks of the internet, the work will explore notions of the artwork as an immersive experience. View the live webstream.

Open via appointment: 21st July to 29th Sept (contact jack.welsh@islingtonmill.com)  Unit 5, Regents Trading Estate, Salford, M5 4DE (adjacent to Islington Mill)
