Open Table with Corridor8

Posted on 31 May 2022

In an exciting new partnership with Corridor8, the journal for contemporary art and writing in the North, we have launched a series of bursaries for Castlefield Gallery Associate Members to respond to exhibitions in our gallery programme.

The bursary presents an opportunity for Associate Members to draw upon their own practice, creatively responding to a given show as well as present their work in a public event, alongside other creatives working in the region.

How Open Tables Work:

Following a call out for Associate members to register their interest in a particular exhibition, the gallery team selects an individual to present their response in a public Open Table event alongside a commissioned work by a Northern based creative.

The responses can take the form of a written text – be that essay style prose, fiction, experimental writing or poetry. It is also possible to present a visual essay using either printed material or a digital screen.

After the Open Table both responses are published in Corridor8 contributing to a series of digital publications that explore and reflect upon the gallery’s programme.

Past Events:

Our first Open Table event occurred on Tuesday 19 July with Associate member Bryony Dawson sharing a response to the exhibition PIVOT: Editions alongside an invited response to the show by Manchester based writer/curator Elysia Lukoszevieze

The responses are available to read in Corridor8 online

*please note the bursary is only available for Castlefield Gallery Associate Members. You can find out more about the Associates membership scheme and how to join here

*The Open Table is a public event at Castlefield Gallery. The event will be ticketed for the general public and free to Associate Members.
