Castlefield Gallery is excited to announce that they are calling for proposals for either exhibitions or projects for the next Launch Pad slot. The Deadline to apply is 12 noon on Sunday 16 March.

Launch Pads are open to all CG Associate members and this time round the selectors will include Stephen Snoddy, Director of the New Art Gallery Walsall, and Castlefield Gallery Interim Programme Manager Matthew Pendergast. Past selectors have included Bryan Biggs, Artistic Director of the Bluecoat, Liverpool; Bryony Bond, Curator at the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester; Pippa Hale, Director of the Northern Art Prize and Co-Director of Project Space Leeds and Kate Jesson, Curator at Manchester Art Gallery.

Launch Pads are short exhibitions or performances that punctuate Castlefield Gallery’s curated programme providing artists, writers and independent curators with the opportunity to use the gallery as a test bed for the production, display and consumption of contemporary art. Launch Pads feature emerging talent selected from CG Associate members’ proposals (three times a year) and from the MA and BA art courses at Manchester School of Art (once a year). CG provides technical assistance, curatorial input, marketing and PR assistance as well as a small budget of up to £500 which members can divide as appropriate.

CG is now accepting proposals for public-facing projects as well as exhibitions that will happen from 20 to 29 June 2014, with a public preview on Thursday 19 June.

To apply for Launch Pad please submit:

• Launch Pad project proposal (500 words max)
• Artist’s info (250 words per artist max)
• Images (jpeg or pdf): maximum 4 per artist
• Breakdown of the proposed budget (the gallery can provide up to £500 but artists are welcome to supplement this from other sources.)

At least one exhibiting artist, or the curator, must be a member of CG Associates.
