University of Manchester History of Art placements Edie Cabot, Alice Campbell and Isabela Origel Soberón are delivering a student-led evening responding to our current exhibition It Requires Getting Lost  a partnership between the Roberts Institute of Art (RIA), Venture Arts and Castlefield Gallery. The event aims to explore the implications of ‘getting lost’ through a set of three interconnecting workshops.

Guests will be encouraged to engage their senses through visual, auditory, and tactile-based activities which are in dialogue with the exhibited commissioned works by artists Gregory Herbert, Malik Jama and Jocelyn McGregor. These workshops will include a question-led film viewing, an immersive audio experience, and a collaborative drawing session.

Arising from the idea that we have become unfamiliar with the nature that surrounds us, the intention of the event is to offer a less definite answer to what ‘getting lost’ looks like, both within the exhibition and beyond. Through this, guests are encouraged to leave thinking: What does it mean to be lost?
