Work commissioned by Castlefield Gallery goes to the National Glass Centre, Sunderland
Posted on 11 April 2018Originally commissioned by Castlefield Gallery in 2016 for the exhibition Miniature World, artist Annie Carpenter will perform her ‘Central Engine Maintenance Performance’ at KOSMICA: Ethereal Things, at the Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, National Glass Centre in Sunderland.
Central Engine, is an artwork developed by Carpenter that attempts to model the form of black hole accretion disks, which exist at the centre of galaxies.
KOSMICA: Ethereal Things is a weekend of events (Saturday 14 April 2018 and Sunday 15 April 2018) exploring our intimate human connection with particle physics and the physics of the universe. Experience impossible situations, encounter the mysterious realm of subatomic physics, and unravel the cosmic web through experiments, performances, music and poetics.
