Meeting at 5:30pm at Manchester Art Gallery there will get an introduction to two impressive works that are part of We Face Forward.  El Anatsui’s sumptuous sculpture,  In the World But Don’t Know the World? and Barthélémy Toguo’s Redemption, a brand new commission that features two huge 5 meter tall wooden chairs and which takes its name from Bob Marley’s final concert in Pittsburgh in September 1980 in which he sang Redemption Song whilst ill with terminal cancer.

The walk will then go to Cornerhouse where we will get a short introduction to AND (Abandon Normal Devices Festival) and It’s Cool, I’m Good, the first UK solo show of LA-based artist Stanya Kahn.

And finally at Castlefield Gallery there will be an introduction to Dave Griffiths: Babel Fiche. Co-produced by Castlefield Gallery and Film and Video Umbrella the Babel Fiche film explores the human urge to collect, categorize and remix images. Video fragments from personal and public archives were collected and re-presented from compressed contents as still frames printed on an edition of unique colour micro fiche plates acting as an imaginary media for future anthropologists.
