MSB2015 Open Studio I features new work by members of CG Associates, Bloc Projects (Sheffield) and Extra Special People (Birmingham). It is the first part of a three-part residency exchange focused on providing opportunities for making work in quick, experimental contexts, developing conversations with other practitioners and opening opportunities for collaboration. The series of residencies is designed to develop the practices of the participating artists by providing them with critical input and opportunities to experiment, collaborate, develop their networks nationally, make new work and exhibit.
The artists exhibiting in MSB2015 Open Studio I will be:
Peter Bourne, Sandra Bouguerch, Sophie Bullock, Roger Bygott, Claire Davies, Niall Gormley, Lisa Denyer, Jenny Drinkwater, Rachael Hand, Jane Lawson, Rebecca Ounstead, Helen Stratford and Claire Tindale.
The second part of the exchange takes part at Bloc Projects on 8th/9th July and the third part takes place at Stryx in Birmingham from 3rd to 7th August.
MSB2015 follows a successful pilot project, CPAGES, an exchange between CGA and ESP in May/June 2014 which offered professional development and networking opportunities, including introductions to local artist-led organisations and culminating with critical feedback sessions with a total of ten local curators, including Kate Jesson of Manchester Art Gallery and Stuart Tulloch of Ikon Gallery, and two public Open Studio events attended by 700 people.
NB MSB2015 Open Studio I will take place at Third Floor Studios Project Space, 66-72 Chapeltown Street, Piccadilly, Manchester, M1 2WH
