Visit to Manchester Metropolitan University’s Special Collections.
The Manchester Artists’ Book Fair is taking place the same day close by in the Holden Gallery and is open until 5pm – more info here.

The MMU library has a whole range of Special Collections, including:

  • Artists’ books
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Archives such wood engravings
  • Book design – with 10,000 books
  • Posters
  • Decorated papers
  • Victorian ephemera
  • Complete runs of private presses with hand-printed editions

The Artists’ Books collection dates from the 1960s onwards, and comprises mainly British artists but with some international artists as well.

Attendees will also be able to browse the Reading Room during the visit, as well as visiting the current exhibition, which is The Language of Process: how new materials and technologies are changing product design and features work by designers such as Tom Dixon, Marcel Wanders, Assa Ashuach and Tord Boontje.
