Kelly Jayne Jones

19 April 2022 / 6:30pm

For Castlefield Gallery Associates only

Kelly Jayne Jones is a Manchester based artist making work that combines performance, installation and sound. She is self-taught and began working in DIY experimental noise music.  Her practice has expanded to include sound installation, dance, gesture, sonic drawings, stone sculpture and film scores.

She is interested in creating multi-sensory experiences that creates possible conditions for communication and exchange. She is currently exploring animist ideas around the breath and spirit of mountains and rivers and how we can reconnect with our planet by means of ancient and modern rituals.

For Castlefield Gallery’s Archives at Play exhibition, Kelly has developed a new installation work that responds to the site and the gallery archive.

For her evening event with Castlefield Gallery Associates she will introduce different aspects of her practice – from sonic meditation to active listening. Sharing some reflective exercises, Kelly will invite Associates to explore different means of connecting and listening to others (be that human, object or architectural) and their potential to enhance creative practice.

The gallery will open at 5.45pm for anyone wishing to views Kelly’s installation before the event begins at 6.30pm.
