aLECTRO_eCOUSTIC

2 May 2004 / 15:00 - 17:00

Castlefield Gallery hosts aLECTRO_ eCOUSTIC, a live music experimentation event featuring Daniel Weaver, Lee Patterson and Owl Project.

aLECTRO_eCOUSTIC will incorporate recycled sound, home made instruments and everyday objects, utilising lo-fi-hi-fi electronics in three unique performances and one exclusive collaborative work. The event will be divided between the various artists and their individual approaches to sound and will conclude with a group piece, designed to place the different sound fields into contrasting settings.

MORE INFORMATION ON THE ARTISTS:

DANIEL WEAVER:
Daniel Weaver is a composer and experimental musician working with recycled sound and home made instruments. His work has covered many areas including theatre, installations and site-specific work in Germany, Austria and Russia. A recent focus has been organising events and commissioning new sound work from local artists, often bringing them together with performers from around the world to perform in unusual/non-theatre settings. http://www.danielweaver.co.uk/unplugboy.htm

LEE PATTERSON:
Lee Patterson is a sound artist working with the inherent sonic possibilities of everyday objects and places. His works can reveal unexpected potential and bring sound out of seemingly mute objects. Always with a visual or performed element, they may be read as either music or sonic explorations.

OWL PROJECT:
Owl Project are Antony Hall and Simon Blackmore, 2 artists who work with hand crafted electronic instruments. A knowing take on electronic music that sees the artists busy behind two hand-made wooden laptops. http://www.owlproject.com
