“Castlefield Gallery is the centre to the periphery, which in my thinking is the best position to work from and where I want to be. Castlefield Gallery oozes with explorers and pioneers, and understands that the currency of a scene is its ability to import and export culture, not sit stagnant in its own melting pot.”
Ryan Gander OBE, Castlefield Gallery Artist Patron.
Ambitious collaborations such as our ongoing work with Venture Arts, including our current exhibition ‘Thumbs Up’ and the upcoming exhibition at The Whitworth ‘Other Transmissions: Conversations with Outsider Art‘ are only achieveable with the crucial support of our growing network of supporters and funders through schemes such as the Guardians and Patrons.
During 2020 we will be offering our Guardians and Patrons access to a unique programme of trips, talks and events, specifically tailored by our curatorial and programming team to engage with the most exciting and innovative artists, networks and scenes across the region, nationally and internationally. We think it is vital to introduce and connect our Guardians and Patrons with the most influential and engaging voices across the North West in order to help grow their interests and understanding of the artistic offer available throughout our local communities and further afield.
This year the programme includes a spring tour of the most interesting and progressive Manchester and Salford exhibitions and studio communities, meeting with leading and influential curators and artists. A summer visit to Liverpool, which will offer a curatorial insight to the 2020 Liverpool Biennial programme and taking in the highlights of this year’s offering ‘The Stomach and the Port’. And an autumn visit to Manifesta 13, hosted in Marseille, France (some Guardian and Patron activities will involve additional costs).
