Meet The People We Work With: Anab Mohammed
Posted on 15 March 2026
Meet the People We Work With is a series of short conversations with the artists, volunteers, collaborators and supporters who shape Castlefield Gallery. It offers a way to get to know the people behind the work. What they do, what they’re interested in, and how working together helps make space for artists and new ideas to develop.
HI Anab! Please Introduce yourself, tell us about what you do and your role with Castlefield Gallery.
Hello, My name is Anab, I am a volunteer with Castlefield Gallery, and also an artist. I started volunteering here because I wanted to spend my spare time surrounded by artworks and other creatives.
What do you value about working with an artist-focused organisation?
Working within an artist-focused organisation continually reignites my own creative drive. Being surrounded by fellow creatives and engaging in art-centred conversations fuels my imagination and keeps me closely connected to developments within the art world. It’s an environment that both inspires and challenges me to keep creating.

What keeps you engaged in the work you do?
People are at the heart of what keeps me engaged. The conversations I have with visitors, fellow artists, and colleagues consistently motivate and inspire me in different ways. These exchanges broaden my perspective not only in relation to art, but also on how I view life.
What are you hoping to explore or develop next (either at Castlefield Gallery or in your own work)?
I’m currently in a phase of exploration. I’m keen to experiment with different creative avenues in order to discover and refine my artistic speciality.
Something you’re thinking about a lot right now? My artistic journey and what it may look like in the near future.
Currently reading? The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.
A place that inspires you? Rome, Italy.
A tool, habit or ritual you rely on? Listening to jazz on a Sunday morning.
One thing that helps you keep going? Positive mindset.
