SHOW SEE SAY will be returning For the February Associates session!

Six Associates will share recent works or works-in-progress with a small group of peers, opening up their practice for focused conversation and collective reflection. The session will be facilitated by Matthew Pendergast (Castlefield Gallery Curator and Head of Programmes), who will draw on his experience of working with artists at many different stages of their careers.

The works on display will act as starting points for discussion, sparking conversations around shared interests, challenges, questions, and ambitions. Rather than formal presentations, the emphasis is on dialogue: testing ideas, articulating intentions, and receiving thoughtful, constructive feedback in a supportive environment. It also provides you the opportunity to see your work installed in the gallery during the changeover period – seeing the work outside of your workspace can often help recontextualise it. If you don’t have anything you want to show, you can attend simply to give feedback and chat with other artists in this informal setting.

Associates selected to show work will be asked to install their pieces at the gallery earlier that day and, unless otherwise agreed, collect them by the following morning.

This is an opportunity to try things out before they’re finished, to think aloud, and to gain valuable insight from both Matthew and fellow Associates. An informal but productive space to keep ideas moving forward and build momentum – setting the tone for a strong and ambitious year ahead.
