Join us for this evening event where you will learn how to make and take away your own jar of sauerkraut. It will also be an opportunity to meet and hear from artist and designer Joe Hartley and Matthew Pendergast (Head of Programmes, Castlefield Gallery) about our current exhibition of work co-created by Joe Hartley and the ANEW recovery community.
Learning to make homemade sauerkraut is both cost-effective and healthier than many shop bought versions. It is packed with beneficial probiotics that improve gut health helping you thrive during your time as a student in Manchester! In the context of our current exhibition ANEW Way to Peel an Orange this simple and rewarding fermentation project is a celebration of life and new beginnings as well an opportunity to highlight the importance of caring as part of the recovery process.
ANEW Way to Peel an Orange is a Portraits of Recovery and Castlefield Gallery commission, developed and presented in partnership with ANEW, funded by Brian Mercer Trust, The Howarth Trust, supported by Arts Council England, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Manchester City Council.
