‘жевательная резинка’ at Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces: Great Northern Tower [unit 3]
Posted on 1 November 2017Tim Brennan’s new performance marks the centenary of the 1917 Russian Revolution that witnessed the Red Guards’ storming the Winter Palace.
‘жевательная резинка’ forms part of the ongoing sequence ‘Soviet Works for the Russian Market. It will consist of a 2 hr ‘celebration’ punctuated by 2 short actions set to Shostakovich’s Symphony Number 2 ‘The Spirit of Revolution’.
It is envisaged that visitors will all have a ‘critically good time’. Some alcohol will be provided to enhance this. The artist and The Great Medical Disaster would also encourage you to bring some with you.
Tim Brennan has exhibited internationally as an independent artist for over 30 years. His concerns lie in the area of art’s politicized relationship to place. He has published extensively with over 10 discreet publications.
Tim Brennan is Professor of Art, Head of Art Department, Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metroploitan University.
