Renowned critic Michael Bracewell will be ‘in conversation’ with Andrew Cross; drawing to a close the final leg of his exhibition tour, An English Journey (part III).
Castlefield Gallery presents a discussion about artist’s film and video and new media practice with Michael Connor, curator at FACT in Liverpool, and artist Simon Poulter.
In order to develop links between artists based in London and the Northwest, Artquest and Castlefield Gallery are inviting artists to participate in a seminar discussion on the relationship between art in London and the rest of the UK. The panel of speakers have been selected because of their experiences of working across the UK: they include Manchester artist Nick Crowe; Becky Shaw who has recently moved from Liverpool to London via Cambridge; and London-based artists Andrew Cross and Olivia Plender, who also exhibit widely across the UK.

Castlefield Gallery presents ‘An English Journey (part III)’, the first solo touring exhibition in the UK of work by artist Andrew Cross. Short-listed for Beck’s Futures 2004, Cross began working as an artist in 2000 following an established career as a curator. The exhibition continues Castlefield’s 21st Anniversary Programme; working with a range of artists whose practice embodies aspects of history, place and time.
Castlefield Gallery launches the 21st Anniversary Talks & Events Programme with a discussion about artists’ books and self-publishing. James Brooks from Book Works and John Timberlake, artist and Co-Editor of Everything Magazine, will be talking about publishing across a number of formats from the internet to the limited edition book.

Castlefield Gallery presents ‘From Elsewhere’, an exhibition of new works by Emma Rushton, Derek Tyman and Geir Tore Holm. The exhibition celebrates our 21st Anniversary programme where we will be working with a range of artists whose practice embodies aspects of history, place and time.
‘Acts of Generosity’ is an exhibition of new works by Simon Le Ruez, created for Castlefield Gallery’s Project Space. Le Ruez’s sculptures, drawings and installations consider the process and consequences of remembering, exploring the plight of individual lives through a dialogue of little curiosities.
Castlefield Gallery kicks off it’s Autumn season-before closing down it’s existing venue- with Apocalypse Now and Next week!, a group show curated by Manchester based curator Yuen Fong Ling.
