Open Up North

The Brewery is pleased to announce the return of Open Up North, a competition open to all artists from the north of England*, culminating in a multi-venue exhibition across Kendal from 31st May to 27th July 2014.

Over 200 professional and non-professional artists took part in Open Up North in 2011 with 150 pieces of work being selected for the final exhibition.

How to enter:
Entry is via an online portal which is NOW OPEN.  To access the entry portal please click here.  The portal will close at midnight on 13th April 2014.

The Exhibition:
The exhibition will take place in all gallery spaces around the Brewery; the Sugar Store Gallery, Warehouse Café and Intro Bar, plus the Abbot Hall Coffee House and Kendal College’s Castle Dairy.

The Judges:
Helen Watson, Director Collections & Exhibitions at the Lakeland Arts Trust.
Kwong Lee, Director of Castlefield Gallery, Manchester.
Estelle Lovatt FRSA, art critic and regular guest on BBC radio and TV, Sky News, and lecturer at Hampstead School of Art, London.

The Prizes:
1st Prize: £1000
2nd Prize:  £500
3rd Prize:  £200
Emerging Artist Award: £300 plus a place on the Emerging Artist Programme.
People’s Choice Award: £250 voted for by members of the public visiting the exhibition.
