University of Bolton’s, John Dempsey awarded Castlefield Gallery Graduate Professional Practice Award

Castlefield Gallery’s Director, Helen Wewiora was delighted to officially open the University of Bolton’s Creative Degree Show last week (8 June 2017).

In her opening speech Helen explained the importance of artists to the cultural wellbeing of society and how towns that adopt an approach which embraces the arts benefit directly from it.

She said: ‘Bolton is a dynamic, post – industrial town where creativity and people are clearly at the heart of the town’ and that ‘Partnerships are important to the cultural and careers agenda’ adding ‘the enrichment of teaching experience that encourages original thinking and drives up engagement and prepares students for the world can be really aided through these partnerships.’

At the opening Fine Art graduate, John Dempsey was awarded the Castlefield Gallery Graduate Professional Practice Award and will receive mentoring and support through Castlefield Gallery’s CG Associates membership scheme for the next 12 months.
