CG Associates trip to artist-run projects, Birmingham

CG Associates will be visiting artist-led projects in Birmingham, hosted by Trevor Pitt from A3 Project Space.

The visit will include

A3ProjectSpace
an artist-led gallery which is currently  hosting Connect/Exchange, a national exchange initiative for six artists with a moving image, digital or screen-based practice.

Eastside Projects
a free, public space that is being imagined and organised by artists. Eastside Projects commission and present experimental contemporary art exhibitions, and propose ways in which art may be useful to society. “We believe in working collaboratively towards change and do so to support the cultural growth of Birmingham. We do not make art for the public. We are the public that makes art. The artist run space is not a stop gap. The artist run space is a public good.”

The current East Side exhibition, Trade Show, is a group exhibition that exercises the function of art to exchange, present and enact different economic practices and cultures of trade. Grand Union

Grand Union
an artist-run gallery and studios which will be hosting part of New Art West Midlands, an exhibition of work by recent West Midlands graduates taking place at five venues across Birmingham.

Stryx
an artist-led studio, project and exhibition space, set up by 2012 graduates, which will be exhibiting a group show by Stryx studio members.

VIVID
VIVID is dedicated to exploring the convergence of film, video, performance and interdisciplinary practice.

The Lombard Method
an artist-led studio and project space which aims to develop the individual practices of its members through critical dialogue, group interaction, and engagement with a programme of residencies, exhibitions and events.
