ART WALK

18 May 2017 / 5:30-7:30

As part of Transport for Greater Manchester’s Walking Festival and Manchester After Hours, Castlefield Gallery is delighted to be coordinating a special Art Walk in partnership with Manchester Art Gallery and HOME.

This is the perfect walk for anyone interested in discovering more of Manchester’s visual arts scene in a fun and social way. At just under a mile long walkers will enjoy a whistle stop tour of a selection of some of Manchester’s top exhibitions with exclusive after-hours introductions at the three venues.

The walk will begin at Manchester Art Gallery with an introduction to the exhibition Paradise Lost by Jai Redman. Redman combines modern materials with a passion for traditional painting techniques and the works of the old masters, to create provocative images of great beauty.  The walk will then head  to HOME for an introduction La Movida, the exhibition takes the artistic and socio-cultural movement La Movida (literally “the movement”) of post-Franco Spain as its thematic heart.  The walk will end at Castlefield Gallery with an introduction to Andrew McDonald’s solo exhibition, which features a selection of existing pieces presented alongside two new works in animation, a medium that has been an integral part of his practice for two decades.
