The ability to make clear, fluent presentations is a critical skill at all levels in arts and business today. The initial presentation in a business situation can make the difference between success and failure and giving enjoyable and effective presentations of your work to wider audiences can be stressful and daunting. The course is designed to help delegates to organize their thoughts, structure and deliver presentations in a confident and professional way. Different types of presentations are covered.

The course will be led by Malcolm Brown – Osiris Business Solutions. Lunch will be provided.

EXHIBITION

Salem

14 June 2008 to 27 July 2008 

Castlefield Gallery presents Salem, a group show of four artists, Ruth Barker, Sigga Bjorg Sigurdardottir, Erica Eyres and Niall Macdonald, whose work uses drawing, sculpture, video and installation to invert the truisms of contemporary imagination. The distinct aesthetics underpinning their work in each case draw from the artists’ diverse cultural backgrounds in (respectively) the North of England, Iceland, Canada and the Western Isles of Scotland. Representing the echoes of these disparate locations through a contemporary lens of the critical grotesque, the artists will present new work that explores their varying obsessions.

EXHIBITION

artranspennine08 - Stuart Edmundson, Proposal #35

20 June 2008 to 15 August 2008 

For artranspennine08 Stuart Edmundson has produced a series of flyposters which contain proposals for the public to create a piece of his art work for themselves. The posters will be distributed around the cities of Manchester, Hull and Leeds and available for the public to take away free from selected institutions in each city. Each venue will have their own individually designed poster made especially for the artranspennine08 exhibition. The public are encouraged to collect all three.

Shezad Dawood: Feature - Image

08 August 2008 to 21 September 2008 

Castlefield Gallery is pleased to present the new solo project Feature by Shezad Dawood. One of three parts (also taking place in Birmingham, Feature - Architecture and Leeds, Feature – Archaeology) the incarnation at Castlefield Gallery, Feature – Image, will be presented together with other new referential work displaying casting footage, new screen and digital prints based on documentation of the making of the film.
